CARE International Appoints New Secretary General

Geneva, October 27, 2014. The Chairman of CARE International, Ralph Martens, announced today the appointment of Dr. Wolfgang Jamann as the incoming Secretary General/CEO of CARE International. He is replacing Dr. Robert Glasser who earlier in the year announced his intention to move on from his current position. Dr. Jamann is currently the Secretary General of ‘Welthungerhilfe’, a leading German aid organization fighting against global hunger and for sustainable food security. He will commence his work at CARE International in March 2015.

"I am thrilled to appoint Dr. Wolfgang Jamann, who was selected from an outstanding pool of highly qualified candidates, to build upon the fine work being done by our current Secretary General," Martens says. "Dr. Jamann brings a wealth of experience to CARE International, including in developing and crisis-hit countries and as a previous National Director of CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg," he added.

"I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to work with CARE, again" says Dr. Jamann. "In times of immense global challenges and responsibilities, the contributions of a civil society organization like CARE International are badly needed and highly relevant. I look forward to working with the staff and supporters of CARE whom I know as professional and passionate in the best sense."
