Austria
After the 2nd World War, large parts of Austria were in ruins, the people starved. More important were the 1 million CARE packages that were distributed throughout the country. 40 years on, Austria was among the richest countries in the world and was able to pass on the aid to the whole world: On May 14, 1986 CARE Austria was founded, as the eighth member of the international aid organization CARE.
