About CARE Norway

After World War II, CARE Packages™ were distributed across Europe, including in Norway. These included food, clothing, books, and toys.

In 1991, the first Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) were developed in Niger by Norwegian Moira Eknes. Since then, VSLAs have become one of CARE International’s most important tools in fighting poverty around the world.

Beyond supporting VSLAs, CARE Norway advocates for the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls, helps to improve women and girls’ equality and economic growth, and provides emergency aid in countries experiencing crisis.
