Arielle de Rothschild, Chair of the Board

Arielle de Rothschild is a Managing Director at Rothschild & Co and founded the Emerging Markets department following 10 years at Lazard Freres (1989-1999). She specialises in government advisory affairs, privatisations, and mergers and acquisitions. Arielle's engagement in matters concerning developing countries began during her years at university, where she campaigned in favour of disadvantaged children for "Libraries in the Streets", teaching children how to read and write. She joined ''Traditions pour Demain" (Traditions for Tomorrow) in 1986, an association dedicated to defending the Amerindian population in Central America, and is currently an Administrator and Treasurer. She joined CARE France in 1997 as Administrator and became Vice President in 2004, then President in 2007. In 2004, she joined the Board of Directors of CARE International and took on the role of Vice President of CARE International in 2012. She currently serves on the Boards of Groupe Lucien Barriere, Imerys SA, Rothschild & Co and Electrica SA. Arielle holds a PhD in Economic Sciences from the Institute for Political Studies in Paris, where she wrote her thesis under the direction of former French Prime Minister Raymond Barre. She also holds a DEA in Money Bank Finance from Paris II University, as well as a Master's Degree in Econometrics from the Universidad Autonoma of Madrid. In 2008, Arielle was named "Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur''.

Paul Jansen, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Paul Jansen is a Director Emeritus of McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. He is one of the founders of McKinsey's Non-profit Practice (now called the Social Sector Office) and led the Firm's global philanthropy practice. He took up his non-profit work after 17 years of service to for-profit companies on issues including corporate and product strategy, operations improvement, sales and marketing, organisational effectiveness, acquisitions and alliances. He co-authored a widely publicized article in the Harvard Business Review with former Senator Bill Bradley in 2003, entitled "The Non-Profit Sector's $100 Billion Opportunity". Paul earned a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA at the Harvard Business School He was elected to the CARE USA Board in 2008.

Dr Musimbi Kanyoro President and CEO, Global Fund for Women

Dr Musimbi Kanyoro is a social activist and theologian who is globally recognised for her leadership and initiatives that advance human rights, and philanthropy for women and girls. Musimbi is an accomplished and distinguished leader with 30 years of experience managing international non-governmental organizations at global as well as grassroots level, global programmes, and ecumenical agencies in cross-cultural and development contexts. She has demonstrated visionary leadership and effectiveness in managing key relationships among diverse stakeholders at the national, regional and global levels to promote human rights.

Musimbi has been widely recognised for her work, and received many awards and honours throughout the years. In 2015, Forbes magazine named her one of 10 women “power brands” working for gender equality. In 2016 she was named in the list of “Forty over 40 – women who are reinventing, and disrupting and making an impact”. More recently, she was named among the 100 people making a difference in gender policy and alongside Bill Gates as one of the 9 powerful people changing the planet.

Namrata Kaul, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Namrata Kaul is a career banker with over three decades of corporate experience. She has held several leadership positions with Deutsche Bank and ANZ Grindlays Bank and has worked across Asia , India and UK in numerous regional and global roles. She has extensive expertise in the financial services sector in the areas of Debt Capital markets and Corporate Finance. As Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, Namrata led the Corporate Bank as its India Head and specialised in managing risk, credit and compliance with regulatory frameworks. In Asia and U.K., Namrata led Strategic Leadership Teams to strengthen cross border networks and build Asian connectivity with Europe and US.

Namrata is currently an Advisor and Independent Director on several Corporate Boards in India and Singapore, including Vivriti Capital Pvt Ltd, Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd, Havells India , Fusion Microfinance and O2 Power Ltd. Namrata has a keen interest in the start-up incubation space and offers mentoring and advisory services to several early-stage fintech companies in India. She is actively engaged in the Social Development sector , working with several social entrepreneurs and NGOs focussed on capacity building. She has been a Member of the Board of Care India since 2011 and chairs the Finance & Audit Committee.

Namrata is a Chevening scholar from the London School of Economics and a Management Postgraduate from IIM Ahmedabad.

Marcos Athias Neto, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Marcos Athias Neto joined UNDP in February 2013 and has since led UNDP’s global work on private sector development and foundations, first at UNDP’s headquarters in New York and then, from November 2014, as head of the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD). In April 2019, Marcos returned to New York to lead the establishment and management of UNDP’s new Finance Sector Hub. Marcos led the development of UNDP’s new private sector strategy and its offers on SDG Finance. He co-chairs the executive boards of the Business Call To Action and the Connecting Business Initiative. Apart from his role at UNDP, Marcos also serves on the Supervisory Boards of CARE International and the Museum of Tomorrow International.
Over the past 25 years, Marcos has been a leader in sustainable development, poverty eradication and multi-stakeholder partnership building. He is a passionate advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Prior to joining UNDP, Marcos spent 17 years at CARE International. During his tenure at CARE International, Marcos served in numerous roles including Regional Manager for Asia and Latin America at CARE UK, Executive Director of CARE Brasil, and Program Director in Central America. Marcos has lived and worked in Central and South America, Europe and the United States and has also worked in Asia, Middle East and Africa. He is a lawyer by training, with a Master of Laws from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. Marcos is married and has two children.

Bright Simons, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Bright Simons is the President of mPedigree, a social enterprise working on three continents with governments, Fortune 500 companies and activists to safeguard human health and food security using technology.
A career inventor and innovator, his current projects include vaccine quality detection using novel organo-sensors. He is also a Board-level Advisor, with recent appointments to the Microsoft Africa Advisory Council, the Lancet Commission on the Future of Health in Africa, the Center for Global Development's Study Group on Technology, the World Economic Forum's Africa Strategy Group, the Africa Population Health Research Center, and IC Publications, owner of the New African magazine.
Bright is a WEF YGL, TED Fellow, Aspen Braddock Fellow, and the 2016 CNBC African Innovative Business Leader of the Year. In 2016, Fortune magazine named him on their 50 World Greatest Leaders list.

Dr. Iris Mwanza, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Iris is Director of the Community Health Roadmap where an important part of her work is advocating for decent, safe, paid work for humanity health worker, the majority who are women. Iris brings 16 years of leadership and senior management experience working on strategy, operations and program implementation, plus a multidisciplinary background in law, economic development and health to the CARE International Supervisory Board.

Iris is the co-chair of the Gender Equity Hub hosted by the WHO and women in Global Health and also serves on the WHO Steering Committed for the International Year of the Health and Care Worker, chaired by the Director-general, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus.

Iris’s education is in law and economics – an MA and PhD in International relations from John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, an LLM in International Law from Cornell, and an LLB from the University of Zambia.

Stefanie Pfeil, Member of CARE International Supervisory Board

Stefanie Pfeil | ClientEarth Stefanie is the Global Director of Development at Client Earth and is responsible for building the global fundraising portfolio of a fast growing global network.

Stefanie brings over a decade of experience in the international development and humanitarian sector to the CARE International Supervisory Board. Having served on several Boards in the past she understands how crucial it is to have a strategic oversight, robust governance and coordination for an organisation, such as CARE, that works in some of the most challenging places in the world.

Stefanie’s education is in Management and Business Studies – an MA in Arts Management from the University of Greenwich and a BA in Business Studies from the University of Westminster.
