CARE has been working in Sri Lanka since 1950, and is committed to working with communities across the country to improve the lives and livelihoods of poor and marginalized people. Throughout the 25-year conflict in Sri Lanka, CARE has provided and continues to provide humanitarian assistance to people displaced by the fighting. CARE is mourning the recent loss of a staff member who was killed in the conflict zone March 17.

CARE is a non-religious, non-partisan, independent humanitarian organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. CARE does not have any political affiliations, and does not support terrorist activities in any way. It is against CARE’s policy to knowingly recruit people who are party to a conflict. Within the framework of local and international legal requirements, CARE systematically screens all of its staff.

CARE has a humanitarian mandate to improve the lives and livelihoods of poor and vulnerable people across Sri Lanka, and in 69 other countries around the world.
