In November 2008, CARE International convened its first “Global Conference” in Johannesburg. On this occasion, the governance structure of the confederation was reviewed, with a view to improving efficiency and accountability.

Every few years, CARE International will convene a global conference, where CI and its stakeholders can come together and take stock of latest achievements, and discuss new directions for the confederation.

CARE International’s governance rests with the CARE International Board (CI Board).

The CI Board is seconded by four Standing Committees:
  • The Executive Committee (EC)
  • The Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FC)
  • The H.R. Safety and Security Committee (SSC)
  • The Governance and Nominations Committee (GNC)

The Executive Committee maintains four sub-committees, which support implementation of CARE International’s strategic directions and other initiatives undertaken jointly by the CI membership.
